Park Slope Triplex

Despite its many exposures, this apartment was dark and labyrinthine. Straightening out the circulation sent shafts of daylight through the entire building. The new stair runs down an uncovered stone foundation wall, the steps morphing into bookshelves. Moving the old stair out of the kitchen freed up room for expansive ribbons of soapstone on high-gloss cabinets. A new laundry chute slips through the three floors, which are finished in teak, bamboo, and Chinese maple.
