Carnegie Hill Apartment

A third of this pre-war apartment was devoted to a knot of windowless hallways, one of which contained the apartment's only fireplace. By removing the wall separating the fireplace hall from the windows, we created a sunny open living/dining room. We relocated the kitchen from the end of a dark hall to the heart of the apartment, screening it behind a translucent glass partition. The new layout increases living and entertaining spaces while filling them with natural light.
